Last Thursday, the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra unveiled its latest exhibition, ‘Correspondence’, featuring maps, photographs, documents and postcards dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
These fascinating images will be on show until 31 March 2024. Estampe invites visitors to take a trip back in time with an astonishing collection of original postcards, photographs and documents from Cambodia dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Estampe, which now sells online and through exhibitions and markets, was founded in 2012 from a private collection built up over many years by two passionate French expatriates who had been living in Cambodia for 20 years.
They have added many other original items, photos and documents to their collection, and are now keen to share these treasures with a wider public.
''We are delighted to present these original photos and postcards, which offer unique clarity and are a precious testimony to the geographical, ethnographic, architectural and artistic evolution of Cambodia,'' said Lien Bouvet, one of the founders of Estampe, at the opening.
Charles-Henri Chevet, General Manager of the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, also expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with Estampe:
''This exceptional exhibition marks our second partnership with Estampe and our 24th exhibition at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra Gallery. We are proud of our ongoing commitment to supporting local artists and cultural initiatives that celebrate Cambodia’s rich heritage.''
Don’t miss the opportunity to discover the beauty and history of Cambodia through the extraordinary print collection at the ‘Correspondence’ exhibition at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.
