On Wednesday evening, the Rosewood Phnom Penh presented its very first artistic calendar, an original and totally inspiring collaboration between two well-known Cambodian artists, Rotanak Rithbon and Morn Chear.
According to Nat Di Maggio, “This calendar marks time and transforms it into an artistic journey through the traditions and innovations of Cambodia. Whether a personal keepsake or a meaningful gift, it offers a year-round connection to the beauty of Khmer culture.”
“Art is at the heart of Rosewood Phnom Penh, and this calendar allows each of us to infuse our daily lives with the beauty of Khmer art,” says Daniel Simon, general manager of Rosewood Phnom Penh, adding:
“Displaying the original pieces in our lobby allows our guests to experience this creativity first-hand and soak up the stories behind each work.”
Priced at $45 and available exclusively at Rosewood Phnom Penh, the calendar transforms functionality into art, offering a collector's item that celebrates Cambodian heritage, contemporary art and the essence of Khmer culture.
About the artists
Rith Bonrotanak
Rith Bonrotanak, architect, visual artist and actor, is a complex artist who combines his passions to create intricate digital artworks and sculptures. Rotanak's artworks, characterised by their originality of form and texture, reflect his meticulous attention to detail. He calls his creations ‘the Particles’, where each element of animals and plants contributes to the uniqueness of creativity and patience.
Despite the complexity, Rotanak finds solace in simplicity, often opting for a plain black background to accentuate focal points. Each work of art tells a unique story, imbued with its own mood and meaning. Throughout his creative process, Rotanak has learned valuable lessons, with patience becoming a guiding principle.
Morn Chear
Morn Chear is a multi-talented visual and performing artist. He is also an accomplished contemporary dancer, singer and visual artist who masters illustration, painting, drawing and printmaking.
