The unique taste of Cambodian cashew nuts is now part of everyday life for Japanese consumers: they are distributed in 16,320 Family Mart shops across the archipelago. This is a major step forward for Cambodian agriculture and bilateral trade.

On the sidelines of her official mission to Osaka, Minister of Commerce H.E. Ms Cham Nimul met on Wednesday with the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mirarth Energy Solutions Inc., Mr Taniguchi Kentaro, accompanied by representatives from Mirarth Holdings Inc. and ITOCHU Corporation.
The Minister praised the joint efforts of Mirarth and its partners in raising Cambodian cashews to the level of a product that meets international standards and is now highly prized by the Japanese market.
She also encouraged companies to expand their processing capacity by promoting other agricultural products, particularly those with Protected Geographical Indication status.
This meeting follows on from the memorandum of understanding and letter of intent signed during Cambodia's National Day at the Osaka-Kansai 2025 World Expo, held last July.
These agreements aim to strengthen the promotion and distribution of Cambodian agricultural products in the Japanese market.
For his part, Mr Kentaro expressed his gratitude for the ministry's continued support and confirmed increased cooperation with the Export Promotion Task Force. He stressed that the presence of Cambodian cashew nuts in all Family Mart outlets already symbolises a tangible success.
Looking ahead, he announced plans to develop the production chain in Kampong Thom province and strengthen collaboration with Family Mart, a pillar of the ITOCHU Group, to explore the import of other Cambodian agricultural products for the Japanese market.
This partnership illustrates Cambodia's ambition to transform its agricultural wealth into competitive export products and attract new consumers around the world.
