From November 14 to 16, 2025, Siem Reap literally transformed into the regional capital of the francophonie, welcoming on the riverbanks a daily influx of several thousand visitors.

According to the Chambre de Commerce France-Cambodge (CCIFC), organizer of the event, “le Village de la Francophonie 2025 is an open celebration for all, embodying the values of diversity, creativity, and conviviality of the francophonie. At the heart of Siem Reap, we brought together more than 50 exhibitors and organized more than 15 shows to showcase francophone culture and intercultural dialogue to several thousand visitors each day.”
This edition stood out both by record attendance and the exceptional mobilization of public and private stakeholders from all horizons to offer a free, accessible, and intensely festive festival.
The Real Commercial Triumph of the Francophonie
Beyond festivities, the enormous commercial success of le Village de la Francophonie 2025 must be emphasized, which allowed numerous artisans, merchants, and entrepreneurs, both local and international, to promote and sell their products to a broad and connected clientele.
For three days, stands showcasing gastronomy, Franco-Khmer craftsmanship, bookstores, regional products, and francophone services remained busy, turning the riverbanks into a true open-air market.
“This is the perfect example of an event where culture and commerce mutually enrich each other: the significant influx of visitors resulted in tangible economic dynamics, beneficial for all stakeholders,” said an organizer from CCIFC.
French and Cambodian companies, supported by major partners such as TotalEnergies, Sofitel Angkor, and the Région Québec, were able to forge new contacts, present their expertise, and attract new clientele, thus consolidating their presence in the Greater Mekong regional market.
This alchemy between artistic success and commercial achievement reinforced Siem Reap’s pioneering role in Cambodia francophone economic diplomacy.

Excellence in a Widely Praised Program
The program of the Village was unanimously praised for its diversity and creativity. The opening of the first evening, grandiose, brought together the modernity of the francophone music scene and traditional Khmer rhythms. Canadian star Fabienne Thibeault, guest of honor, shared:
“It is a tremendous joy to reconnect with the francophone audience in Cambodia, in such a vibrant and warm setting... I felt like singing for a big family!”
Sokunthea, a rising star of Khmer music, expressed pride: “I was proud to blend Khmer and francophone rhythms, and to see the audience dance and sing with us. It’s an experience to renew because music truly unites hearts in Siem Reap!” On her side, Sin Sochhatta, of Khmer Magic Music Bus, noted: “The diversity, openness, and curiosity of the audience touched us... We could share our creations in a spirit of celebration and mutual respect.”
Alongside live concerts and DJ sets (notably DJ Cécile Hinas: “Closing the first evening on the main stage in front of an all-ages audience was electrifying”), participatory workshops (cooking, games, ceramics, art, French initiation, etc.) delighted families and visitors of all ages.
Exhibitions and demonstrations, ranging from fruit carving to pottery, engaged both hotel schools and Angkor artisans, offering a lively panorama of local and francophone skills.

A Festival Creating Value and Opportunities
The Village’s popular success turned out to be a remarkable business lever for all exhibitors: many report a notable increase in sales, greater visibility with new customers, and partnership opportunities with francophone entrepreneurs. The night market that animated the evenings saw exceptional attendance, becoming the key place to taste wines, cheeses, pastries, or acquire works of art and original creations from across the francophonie.
According to a CCIFC representative: “Le Village de la Francophonie illustrates the ability of the francophonie to generate social ties and business, to stimulate responsible consumption, circular economy, and local innovation.” Exhibitor feedback confirms: “The three days exceeded our expectations in terms of sales, notoriety, and cooperation opportunities. The audience was present, sensitive to the quality and diversity of our offer.”

The Marriage of Conviviality, Dialogue, and Success
The spirit of the Village, as intended by its creators, emphasizing conviviality, “living together,” and openness, was felt at every moment. “Our ambition is to create a unifying event in a spirit of openness, a lively festival where each person, child or adult, finds their place to discover, dialogue, and share around the French language and the richness of cultures... Siem Reap deserves to be a new francophonie center in Southeast Asia,” summarized the organizers. The immersive and multilingual experience offered—workshops, animations, tastings, shows, market, conference, and exchange moments—led many participants to say they “had never experienced such a festive and productive atmosphere simultaneously.”
The Village of the Francophonie 2025 also marks a turning point for Cambodia’s cultural and economic diplomacy, serving as a living laboratory for the International Sommet de la Francophonie planned in 2026 in Siem Reap. “The successes of this edition are a showcase for the reception, organization, and creativity of francophone Cambodia. They prepare the ground for even greater influence at the next summit, by bringing together institutions, businesses, artists, and citizens around a common project,” assures CCIFC.

Siem Reap, Model for the Village of All Successes
Le Village de la Francophonie 2025 succeeded in combining artistic excellence, intercultural openness, and commercial success: the key to a model for future events. Artists, merchants, organizers, and visitors leave enchanted—and Cambodia, at the heart of the francophonie, offers itself a must-attend spot on the global festival map: a village unlike any other, a village of all successes.
