When masters of the ចាប៉ី (Chapei), like the iconic Kong Nay, take the stage, they do more than play music; they engage with the present and awaken consciences. Kong Nay used to say: "ចាប៉ីគឺជាចេតនារបស់ប្រជាជនដែលសរសេរជាមួយតន្ត្រី" – "The ចាប៉ី is the conscience of the people written in music."​

In 2016, inscribed on the intangible heritage of humanity, the ចាប៉ីដងវែង (Chapei Dang Veng) gained new life. The threat of oblivion loomed, with voices and skills fading away. Thanks to this international recognition, the flame was rekindled.​

The Ministry of Culture, with support from NGOs like Cambodian Living Arts, launched initiatives to pass this treasure to younger generations, especially in provinces such as Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, and Takeo. Today, children learn to blend modernity with tradition, and the tunes of the ចាប៉ី (Chapei) sometimes harmonize with guitar or modern percussion.​
