The Preah Norodom Sihanouk-Angkor Museum hosts a temporary exhibition of objects from archaeological digs

The Preah Norodom Sihanouk-Angkor Museum is currently hosting a temporary exhibition featuring objects from archaeological digs carried out at the Phum Lvea, Prei Kmeng and Phnom Kulen sites.

This exhibition began on November 30, 2024 and will last three months, ending at the end of January 2025, according to the APSARA National Authority

Visitors can discover a total of 57 objects from the prehistoric sites of Phum Lvea and Prei Kmeng, including items such as bronze rings, earrings, bracelets, bells, pendants, coins and clay beads.

In addition, the exhibition features historical relics from Phnom Kulen, excavated from various sites, including temples and fortresses. Among the objects on display are gold leaf, jade, stone seals, beads, bronze plaques and daggers.

The artefacts from Phum Lvea and Prei Kmeng were discovered as part of a collaborative research project between the University of Sydney and the APSARA National Authority from 2011 to 2014. The artefacts from Phnom Kulen were discovered as part of a joint initiative between the Archaeology and Development Foundation (ADF) and the APSARA National Authority between 2008 and 2012.

The aim of this exhibition is to educate the public about ancient objects and their historical significance. It aims to inform visitors about the origins of these objects and how they were used in daily life and worship by our ancestors.

The museum is located in the village of Boeung Doan Pa, Sangkat Slak Kram, Siem Reap town, and welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.
