Phnom Penh is about to vibrate to the rhythm of an exceptional musical tribute. On Wednesday 15 October 2025, in the iconic ballroom of the Raffles Hotel Le Royal, French singer Marion Rampal will carry the voice and spirit of the legendary Abbey Lincoln, a major figure in jazz, a committed actress and an inspired composer.

Marion Rampal, renowned for her deep voice and her art of musical storytelling, will be accompanied by a group of renowned musicians: Matthis Pascaud on guitar, Raphaël Chassin on drums, Simon Tailleu on double bass and Thibault Gomez on piano. Together, they will revisit Abbey Lincoln's repertoire with a contemporary sensibility, going beyond a simple tribute to create a living bridge between past and present.
Abbey Lincoln was more than a jazz singer. Her artistic commitment extended far beyond her music, driven by themes of resilience, identity and humanity that resonate universally. Marion Rampal explains:
"This is not a conventional tribute reaching for the stars, but a gesture of living memory. We are invoking and sharing the spirit of an immense artist for whom jazz was a way of building character.''
The evening will feature a musical journey combining Lincoln's most memorable works with original compositions by Rampal, reflecting the creative freedom and emotional depth inherent in jazz. For lovers of fine dining and a complete evening out, a three-course dinner will be offered at Le Phnom restaurant, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, before the concert begins at 8pm. Dinner is priced at 28 dollars ++, while concert tickets cost 20 dollars. Reservations should be made with the Institut français du Cambodge.
This event is a testament to Cambodia's rich cultural landscape, where French tradition and local passion for live music intertwine harmoniously. The concert is supported by key partners including The Piano Shop Cambodia, The Pacific Cigar and Steven Gargadennec, who are helping to raise the profile of this exceptional production.
