The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Mr. Guillaume Jumel, Executive Director of BED, as well as Mr. Eng Sophorn, Governor of Run Ta Ek, in the presence of representatives from the Ministries of Tourism, Labor and Vocational Training, Education, Youth and Sports, local authorities, community leaders, and youth and women's associations.

This two-year initiative aims to empower local populations, particularly youth and women, by promoting green and circular tourism, entrepreneurship, and vocational training. It aligns with Cambodia’s national strategy aiming for inclusive economic growth, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental preservation, in coherence with Run Ta Ek’s vision as a new sustainable city.

Project Objectives

  • Strengthen the skills of youth and women in sustainable tourism, green entrepreneurship, and ecological business management.

  • Support the creation of a Community-Based Eco-Responsible Tourism Association (CBET) as well as a local incubator for businesses.

  • Promote the principles of the circular economy and innovation around local products.

  • Increase employment and income opportunities through the development of green tourism.

In his opening speech, Mr. Guillaume Jumel emphasized:
