A series of shots taken in Phnom Penh in the run-up to the Chinese New Year celebrations. The proximity of the festivities is a joy for lantern sellers and roasters, as people rush to do their last shopping in the busy grocery shops and supermarkets, and shopkeepers are rubbing their hands over these few days of shopping fever.

At the nurseries along the Nationale 1, stocks of chrysanthemums, tangerines and kumquats are dwindling fast, as are the far less elegant yellow plastic flowers that will adorn the branches of the ‘New Year's tree’.

On the Borey side, as with every celebration, the event is celebrated in style, with long stretches of road lined with lanterns, garlands and lights.
It's a recurring scene, but one that seems to please, with many passers-by stopping to take selfies in front of the statues and illuminated decorations, which are very Chinese in inspiration...
