Exhibition & Sofitel Phnom Penh: Im Pesey, highlighting Cambodia's resilient spirit through art

Im Pesey will be exhibiting at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra from Friday, July 4, to showcase his new works. The exhibition is entitled “Melody Chivit.” In the contemporary Cambodian art scene, this artist stands out as a radiant figure whose creations capture the resilience and ever-evolving spirit of his native country.

A graduate of the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Pesey's artistic journey is deeply rooted in his childhood in the agricultural province of Prey Veng and his deep connection to Cambodia's complex history and culture.

 One of his most famous works, Liveliness, poignantly depicts the central market of Phnom Penh in the early 1990s, a period marked by tentative recovery and renewed hope after the devastating Khmer Rouge era.
