Discover Serenity: Cambodia's First Open Pottery Studio

Imagine a ritual after a hectic day: hands plunged into fresh clay, the potter's wheel turning gently, and the mind finally at peace. This is the promise of Go Pottery Open Studio, Cambodia's very first open-access pottery space, launched by the Khmer Ceramics Centre on River Road, near Route 60 in Siem Reap.

Open to local residents via an affordable monthly subscription, this fully equipped workshop welcomes up to 50 members, from beginners to experts, seeking a creative, social, and therapeutic activity.

Unwind, socialize, create: pottery as a way of life

Starting at just $33 per month, ceramics is reinvented here as an everyday leisure activity accessible to all. Far from a mere hobby, it becomes an antidote to modern stress—a moment of deep connection with oneself and others. Whether you come alone to release tension or with friends to share laughs and ideas, this warm space invites inner peace, focus, and free expression.

Two tailored options

Open Studio ($33/month): Unlimited daily access for independent practice in a relaxing setting, perfect for free spirits exploring personal projects.

Open Studio Plus ($55/month): The same open access, enhanced with two one-hour guided sessions per day (Monday to Saturday), ideal for progressing with gentle support.

Both include a member card (open 7am to 11pm), unlimited local clay (stoneware), a variety of colored glazes, full equipment (wheels, slab rollers, extruders, modeling tools, and personal shelves), a best practices guide, and attentive staff to set up your station and answer questions.

Not included: Firing ($6/kg, min. $1/piece), dedicated instructor (it's a free space, not classes), cleanup (members maintain their areas), and instant results—ceramics rewards patience and experimentation.

Voices that inspire

Serge Rega, co-founder: “Ceramics transcends object-making; it acts as deep therapy, akin to yoga or gym workouts. Repetitive gestures calm the nervous system, banish anxiety, boost focus and resilience. The sensory touch of clay uplifts mood and releases emotions wordlessly. Our members, often novices, come out of curiosity and embrace a holistic lifestyle.”

Morgane Darrasse, marketing manager: “Opening this studio in Siem Reap is a dream come true. In a tourist city, we offer a different haven for exchanges and diversity. The community spirit is magical—some even celebrated Christmas together here! The challenge? Inviting more Cambodians to see pottery as personal leisure, beyond traditional crafts.”

Member testimonials

Karona: “This space is a treasure. As a child, I sculpted clay like magic. Today, it brings me immense well-being. The vibe is warm, the people kind and unique.”

Annie:

“My favorite time of the week! As a beginner, I learned clay, firing, glazing—and created the impossible. Calm, welcoming, inspiring: try it, you'll be hooked!”

An inclusive mission for 20 years of excellence

Founded in 2006, the Khmer Ceramics & Fine Arts Centre preserves Khmer ceramic heritage while training and employing artisans, often deaf, in inclusive craftsmanship. For its 20th anniversary, it's aiming big: after Go Pottery Open Studio (coming soon to Phnom Penh?), next up is international expansion, with a presence at the Food and Hospitality Asia (FHA) trade show in Singapore in April.
