Cinema: 3rd edition of the Biennale du Film Francophone in Siem Reap

Siem Reap, the cultural jewel of Cambodia and the cradle of the prestigious temples of Angkor, will host the third edition of the Francophone Film Biennial from 2 to 5 May 2025.

Organised by the Alliance Française of Siem Reap, this unique event in South-East Asia celebrates the diversity and richness of French-language cinema.
An ambitious and diverse edition
Since its creation in 2020, the Siem Reap Francophone Film Biennale has enjoyed growing success. For this third edition, it will benefit from the support of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) and the official authorities of Cambodia, which is preparing to host the Francophonie Summit in 2026.
An exceptional selection of films
The Biennale will be showcasing 19 feature films from the four corners of the French-speaking world:
● Europe: ‘Une part manquante’ (Belgium), ‘Le Comte de Monte-Cristo’ (France), ‘Sauvages’ (Switzerland), among others.
Africa: ‘Black Tea’ (Mauritania), ‘Mambar Pierrette’ (Cameroon), ‘Aïcha’ (Tunisia).
Asia: ‘Rendez-vous avec Pol Pot’ (Cambodia), ‘White Building’ (Cambodia), ‘La Forêt enchantée’ (Cambodia).
North America: ‘Hôtel Silence’ (Quebec).
A prestigious patron: Rithy Panh
This year, the Biennale is honoured to welcome Rithy Panh as the festival's patron. A renowned Cambodian filmmaker, Rithy Panh is an emblematic figure in world cinema, recognised for his poignant works on history, memory and identity. His presence further reinforces the status of the Biennale as a major cultural event in the region.
Meetings and activities for all
In addition to the screenings, the Biennale will offer a variety of events:
Meetings and master classes with renowned directors, actors and producers.
A special day devoted to the links between literature and cinema.
An international event
The screenings will take place in the modern theatres of the ‘Legend Cinema - Heritage Walk’ complex and will benefit from local and international media coverage. Numerous public and private institutions are also supporting this event, thus affirming the importance of French-language cinema on the world cultural scene.
