Born in 1992 in the heart of a Cambodia in reconstruction, Artisans Angkor has established itself as the guardian of traditional Khmer know-how. The arrival of Kay Lot and Kean Kim Leang marks a decisive turning point for the institution. Their ambition goes beyond mere economic revival: it is about reinventing Artisans Angkor as a true Cambodian creative house.
The workshops in Siem Reap province are progressively being rehabilitated, artisans reintegrated, and management tools modernized. But beyond this reconstruction, significant work is underway on the brand's identity.
Artisans Angkor now asserts a clear positioning around the concept of “Cultural Luxury,” where cultural richness and artisanal know-how become the foundations of a new vision of Cambodian luxury.
A true artistic direction and a design team have been put in place to support this evolution. The goal is to translate Khmer heritage into contemporary creations capable of resonating with the expectations of a new generation of collectors and travelers.
At the same time, the modernization of management tools and the development of new international distribution channels open up fresh perspectives for the house, which now aims to shine Cambodian know-how far beyond the kingdom's borders.
Living Art Village: An Extraordinary Cultural Experience
In Siem Reap, Artisans Angkor is no longer just a collection of craft workshops. The site is now positioning itself as one of the city's major new cultural hubs, combining living craftsmanship, contemporary scenography, and immersive experiences.
The historic workshops have recently been reimagined to become a true Living Arts Museum, a museum of living arts where visitors discover artisans at work through a scenographed pathway. The site now offers a tropical garden dotted with sculptures—completed or in progress—providing a unique artistic stroll between heritage and living craftsmanship.
This experience will be complemented by the Living Arts Pavilion, which will host, among other things, the Immersive Angkor experience, an immersive museum offering a renewed reading of Angkorian heritage. Through a powerful narrative blending heritage, monumental images, and immersive technologies, visitors are invited to rediscover the history and imagery of Khmer civilization.
This impressive building will also house the brand's new flagship store, as well as a welcoming and high-quality gastronomic offering, with several integrated dining concepts on the site, transforming the visit into a true cultural and lifestyle experience.
This transformation fits into a larger project: the Living Art Village, currently under development across the rest of the site—particularly around the former Chantier-École—which will expand this ecosystem with new cultural, creative, and culinary spaces.
The ambition is clear: to make Artisans Angkor a true living cultural district at the heart of Siem Reap, and to position the city among Southeast Asia's new creative destinations.
