Wat Bo Village Festival: Bamboo Street vibrates to the rhythm of the sustainable community

On 18 and 19 October 2025, Bamboo Street in Siem Reap will host the Wat Bo Village Festival, an immersive experience where Khmer tradition meets ecological innovation and community spirit.

A unique eco-responsible event

The festival has a strong ambition: to reduce its ecological footprint through concrete measures. Visitors and exhibitors will be asked to ban single-use plastics, use a deposit system for cups and give preference to natural or reusable materials. Each stand will be organised in a responsible manner, with shared space under a marquee, limited electricity consumption, waste management and encouragement for energy sobriety.

An exceptional artistic and festive programme

The festival opens on Saturday morning with the blessing of the monks, followed by a colourful official inauguration. The day will be punctuated by folk and pop music, children's shows, a shadow puppet show and a Bollywood dance. The group Skordei will be keeping the audience entertained until the late hours of the evening.

On Sunday, visitors will enjoy concerts, salsa dancing, youth performances and a musical finale where jazz and pop intermingle thanks to Sokunthea & Friends. The live band and the wide range of entertainment will ensure an energising and friendly atmosphere all weekend long.

Community involvement and local crafts

The festival promises to go beyond mere celebration to become a driving force for local solidarity. The stalls will offer a rich array of Khmer gastronomy and handicrafts, with part of the proceeds going to fund projects for the most disadvantaged members of the community.

An inspiring event

Co-funded and supported by the local authorities, educational stakeholders, Bamboo Street and various international organisations, the Wat Bo Village Festival will seek to become a model civic event: rooted in tradition, a driving force for social innovation, and a catalyst for a new shared life for Siem Reap.
