Addressing the nation via his official social media accounts on the evening of 19 July, Samdech Thipadei spoke following the remarkable Solidarity March held on 18 June 2026, an event that brought together Cambodians from all walks of life in the streets, united in a powerful demonstration of national determination and unity.

The march, which was attended by government representatives, veterans, students and ordinary citizens from across the kingdom, sent a clear and resounding message: Cambodia is indivisible and its defenders are never alone.

Prime Minister Hun Manet's message was not merely ceremonial, but conveyed sincere gratitude and solemn assurance. ‘On behalf of the Royal Government, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all compatriots who have once again demonstrated unity,’ he said.

‘Your solidarity sends a powerful message of encouragement to the brave men and women serving on the front lines, reminding them that the nation is watching over them, supporting them and honouring their courage.’

He highlighted the extraordinary dedication shown every day by the national armed forces stationed at Cambodia's borders and strategic outposts.

‘Our soldiers remain steadfast and vigilant,’ the Prime Minister emphasised, ‘standing courageously to defend our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, refusing to give up even an inch.’ The troops on the front lines, he said, ‘embody the heroism and indomitable spirit of the Khmer people.’

Commitment to peace — Preparing for defence

Seeking to emphasise Cambodia's preference for peaceful solutions, Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to resolving disputes through established mechanisms and international law.

“Cambodia is firmly committed to seeking peaceful solutions through technical mechanisms — in particular the Joint Commission on the Boundary (JCB) — and through international legal channels, notably the International Court of Justice (ICJ),” he said.

Nevertheless, the Prime Minister made it clear that this commitment to peace was accompanied by an unwavering determination to defend the Kingdom against any violation of its sovereignty. ‘In the event of a deliberate violation of Cambodia's sovereignty through the use of force, Cambodia is ready to respond decisively through its armed forces,’ Hun Manet warned.

Reaffirming the nation's gratitude, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his special thanks to the leaders and members of the military hierarchy at all levels for their discipline. ‘To our armed forces on the front lines, including those carrying out defence and support missions, I salute your respect and strict obedience to the orders of the commander-in-chief and all senior commanders,’ he said. ‘Your discipline is the pillar of our nation's security.’

A nation's commitment: unconditional support

To reinforce his message, Hun Manet made a moving promise to all Cambodians in uniform. ‘Let all armed forces and their families know that the royal government and the entire Khmer nation stand firmly with you, today and forever, in all circumstances,’ he said. ‘You have our unwavering support and admiration. Your sacrifice and vigilance are the shield and spirit of Cambodia.’

Prime Minister Hun Manet's speech comes at a pivotal moment in regional geopolitics, with territorial issues and border discussions remaining sensitive topics. The Prime Minister's words not only reassured the Kingdom's military, but also galvanised broad national support, mobilising collective patriotism as a source of strength and unity.

Public reaction: solidarity in action

Across the capital, from government corridors to bustling markets and classrooms, Cambodians welcomed the Prime Minister's message. Social media was flooded with messages of respect and encouragement for those stationed at border posts and remote outposts, while temples and community centres organised prayer vigils for the country's peace and security.

Leng Sophat, a long-time veteran attending a solidarity event in Phnom Penh, echoed the national sentiment:

‘We have endured a lot in the past, but never have our people and government been so united behind our defenders. This gives strength to those who serve, knowing that they are supported by every citizen.’

Students from the Royal University of Phnom Penh, waving national flags, joined a candlelight vigil, symbolising hope for peace but also determination to overcome any challenges the nation may face.

‘It is our duty as the new generation to show our support and remember that national defence is not the sole responsibility of the army, but of all Khmers,’ said Sreypov, a student.

A call to history and vigilance for the future

As Cambodia navigates a complex regional landscape, Prime Minister Hun Manet's message is a symbol of unity and determination. It recalls the lessons of history: the value of peace, the need for vigilance and the unbreakable bond that unites the citizens of a nation with those who defend it.

In his closing remarks, repeated by all national media outlets, the Prime Minister set the tone for the future: a united nation, ready to defend its peace and eternally grateful to those who are unreservedly committed to the honour and sovereignty of the Kingdom.
