Cambodian swimmer Apsara Sakbun didn't make it through to the next round of the Olympics in Paris. She finished sixth in the 50-metre freestyle, but on the bright side, she did set a new Cambodian Olympic record.
On a brighter note, she did break the record set by former Cambodian athlete Hem Thon Vitini at the Olympics.
Apsara gave it her all, clocking 26.90 seconds in the Paris La Défense Arena. She finished sixth after competing against athletes from Nigeria, Fiji, Ghana, Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan and Madagascar.
She did amazingly well, finishing 38th out of the total athletes from 79 countries. Unfortunately, she couldn't quite make it to the semi-finals, but she gave it her all and Cambodia should be so proud of her.
Vitini, who is currently the swimming coach of the Cambodian national team and is leading the Olympic swimming team in Paris, held the Cambodian Olympic record in 29.37 seconds at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
