About 142 athletes, sports delegations and coaches from ten countries and the region have registered for the 1st Cambodia Open Para Bowling Championships 2024, which will start this weekend.
Participating countries and regions include host Cambodia, Thailand, China and its Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, India, Malaysia, the Czech Republic and the Philippines.
The event aims to promote bowling in Cambodia and strengthen friendship and solidarity between Cambodia and the participating countries.
It will also be a good opportunity for Cambodian athletes to sharpen their skills for the 13th Para Games 2025 in Thailand and the Asian Para Youth Games 2029 in Cambodia, as well as to encourage them to showcase their skills and talents in international sporting events, he added.
According to Mr Chhay Keak, eight Cambodian athletes will participate in the upcoming event.
This is the first time that Cambodia will host the Cambodia Open Para Bowling Championships 2024, and the country also plans to host the 1st Cambodia International Open 2024 in July.
