Located just minutes from the millennia-old temples of Angkor Wat, Phokeethra Country Club embodies the rare alliance between historical heritage and sporting sophistication. As the first golf course in Siem Reap, it has established itself since its opening in 2006 as an essential pioneer on the Cambodian golf scene, under the refined management of the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf Spa Resort.

This championship 18-hole, par 72 course unfolds in the heart of a natural setting blending lush landscapes and soothing waterways. Each hole, designed to challenge golfers of all levels, culminates in an iconic final hole demanding formidable precision and leaving a memorable impression in players' minds.

Beyond its sporting signature, the club preserves a precious piece of Cambodian history with the Roluos bridge, an 11th-century architectural masterpiece, once a vital artery for travelers. This uniqueness gives the site a singular aura, reinforced by its historical role as host of the Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open, a major international tournament that drew the best talents from Asian and world golf between 2007 and 2010.

"This award is the result of the passionate work of our entire team," says Jake Dudley, Director of Golf Operations. "We are proud to offer a golf experience that combines international excellence with deep reverence for Cambodia's natural and cultural heritage. Our commitment to sustainability and community partnerships is at the heart of our vision: high-level golf must go hand in hand with responsibility and respect."

Recognition by the World Golf Awards also attests to the club's deep commitment to sustainable development. Working closely with the Cambodian Association of Ornithological Guides, Phokeethra Country Club serves as a natural sanctuary, home to more than 70 bird species. Ecological practices are integrated daily: exclusive use of organic fertilizers, facilities powered by solar energy, rigorous waste management, and recycling initiatives.

Furthermore, the club actively supports local communities by sourcing notably from Agrisud and Eggscellent, thus promoting the local economy while fostering sincere environmental respect.

At the dawn of this new distinction, Phokeethra Country Club celebrates not only a heritage of excellence and innovation but also invites enthusiasts worldwide to experience a course where sport, history, and nature blend in perfect harmony.
