Gordon Ramsay Burger Opens in Phnom Penh, a First for Southeast Asia
The British chef is opening his first Gordon Ramsay Burger in Southeast Asia, in Phnom Penh. The restaurant will sit at the top of JS Tower, which will also house the region’s first Planet Hollywood Hotel. JS Group, the developer, announced the project on 14 October. It has not given an opening date.

Gordon Ramsay Burger on Level 42 of JS Tower
The restaurant will take level 42 of JS Tower, on the roof of the building. It will have an indoor dining room, a bar serving cocktails and premium spirits, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the city skyline.
The menu will carry the brand’s signature items: the Hell’s Kitchen Burger, sides, house-made sauces and shakes. JS Group also announces burgers with local flavours, inspired by Gordon Ramsay’s travels in Cambodia, where he explored Khmer cuisine and local ingredients.
JS Tower: From Chief Tower to Planet Hollywood Hotel
JS Tower is 172 metres tall. It was called Chief Tower at its topping-out ceremony in 2023. Designed as an office building, it has become a mixed development of offices, a hotel, restaurants, retail and entertainment. JS Group presents it as its flagship “Destination of Wonder”.
The Planet Hollywood Hotel will have 148 themed rooms. The tower will also have a 360-degree observatory deck and a rooftop infinity pool. According to Cambodia Investment Review, the opening will happen in stages. Gordon Ramsay Burger was expected in October 2026, with the hotel and other attractions to follow. The outlet notes that the tower enters a property market that currently favours tenants over landlords.
Gordon Ramsay Burger: From Las Vegas to Seoul
The first Gordon Ramsay Burger opened on 22 December 2012 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, with about 200 seats. A second Las Vegas branch followed at the Flamingo in 2024, announced at the time as the brand’s fifth. The brand also has locations in Chicago, Boston and Vancouver.
In Asia, the first Gordon Ramsay Burger opened in Seoul, in Lotte World Tower, in late 2021. Phnom Penh will therefore be the brand’s first in Southeast Asia. Gordon Ramsay already has other concepts in the region, including in Singapore. In Bangkok, Bread Street Kitchen and Street Pizza were announced in 2023 at Emsphere.
Gordon Ramsay and Khmer Cuisine
The chef knows the country. In May 2011, Britain’s Channel 4 aired “Gordon’s Great Escape” with a Cambodia episode. He looked for recipes that pre-date the Khmer Rouge, caught frogs and tried tarantula. National Geographic later announced “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted” for 2019. The programme planned a tarantula hunt in Cambodia.
In Phnom Penh, Business Traveller already counted the chef among the admirers of Luu Meng’s cooking at the restaurant Malis, in a 2011 article.
Jobs and Training for Young Cambodians
Dato’ Jack Yap, managing director of JS Group, presents the partnership as an opportunity for young Cambodians. “Working alongside Gordon Ramsay and his team presents an incredible opportunity to nurture Cambodia’s next generation of young talents, to learn from the very best and to take pride in being part of a globally recognised brand,” he said. He wants to combine the brand’s international expertise with the hospitality of its Cambodian team.
Speaking to Travel Weekly Asia, he described the ambition behind the project: “One tower alone cannot change Phnom Penh,” but JS Group wants to show that projects of this standard are possible in Cambodia.
JS Group is a Cambodian business group built around JS Land PLC, its publicly listed property arm. It is also active in hospitality, lifestyle, business services and financial solutions. The restaurant’s opening extends its hospitality business. The group has not given an opening date. Updates are posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page and Instagram account.
