Wang’s new post was confirmed by the China International Development Cooperation Agency after he met with agency head Luo Zhaohui on Tuesday.
Wang served as the 32nd spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry from July 2020 to May this year. The 53-year-old has served in diplomatic missions for over 30 years, mainly engaged in the area of policy planning and affairs with African countries. He previously served as Chinese ambassador to Tunisia.
Wang was born in Anhui, China in April 1971. He attended Nanjing Jinling High School. In 1989 he entered the China Foreign Affairs University, where he majored in French language.
After graduation, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served in a number of diplomatic roles, including as deputy director and director of the Policy Research Office, political counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius, counsellor of the Department of Policy Planning, and deputy director of the Department of Policy Planning.
