Cambodia named Asia's Leading Youth Travel Destination for the fifth year running
The World Travel Awards have named Cambodia “Asia's Leading Youth Travel Destination 2026”. The result was announced on 27 September in the Maldives. The Kingdom has held the title since 2022.
The award was announced at the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2026. It took place on 27 September at CROSSROADS Maldives, on World Tourism Day. This was the 33rd edition of the awards. Representatives from more than 40 countries attended.
A gala led by the Maldives
The host destination did well. The Maldives won five awards, including Indian Ocean's Leading Destination. Vietnam was named Asia's Leading Destination, and the Philippines took Asia's Leading Beach Destination. Cambodia won in a narrower category: travel for young people.
Five wins in a row
Laos won this category in 2019 and 2020, then Thailand in 2021. Cambodia has taken it every year since 2022. The Kingdom was also named Asia's Leading Cultural Destination in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The competition is regional. In 2024, Cambodia received more votes than Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. The ranking is decided by vote. It does not measure visitor numbers.
At the time of writing, the Ministry of Tourism had not published an official reaction to the award.
