Amber Kampot & Sports: banking on sports tourism

Amber Kampot believes that Cambodia can considerably broaden its tourist base by tapping into the sports tourism market. The success of triathlons, marathons, raids and other events taking place in the country is testimony to this.

Trend

The global sports tourism market is booming. It was valued at 323 million dollars in 2020 (source: alliedmarketresearch.com), and is expected to reach 1.8 billion dollars by 2030, registering a CAGR of 16.1% between 2021 and 2030.

Sports, travel and tourism are all linked, and it's an exciting time for the industry. Sports tourism is now a well-established and thriving niche market in the travel industry, with professional athletes, officials and fans flocking to tournaments and events. A fantastic way to promote health and wellbeing!

Amber Kampot is convinced that taking part in sport improves overall health and well-being. So many reasons to do sport! Not just to look after your body, strengthen your bones, improve your stamina and flexibility and live longer.

The kayaking competition organised by Amber Kampot

The province of Kampot, in Cambodia, is a unique and magnificent place. It's home to mountains, rivers and the sea! The province is gaining in popularity in the sports world by hosting one of the events in the 2023 Sea Games.

Water sports are booming, so Amber Kampot is seizing the opportunity to organise a kayaking competition. Not only is this an excellent way of diversifying the province's tourist base, but it also allows Amber Kampot to promote health through sport to the entire Cambodian population, and in particular to the younger generation. And that's not all! Other exciting initiatives are in the pipeline, including football, kite surfing and downhill cycling competitions, all of which should bring even more fun activities to the province.
