International media, travel agents, airlines, partner tourism boards: in the first half of 2026, the Cambodia Tourism Board (CTB) rolled out a four-channel marketing strategy to reposition Cambodia on the global tourism map. It is groundwork whose effects, the institution itself cautions, will only be measurable in the medium term.

Facing perceptions that are sometimes outdated and fierce regional competition, CTB chose to act on four fronts at once: the general public, the travel trade, distribution partners, and peer institutions abroad. A mid-year review of a wide-ranging push.
B2C: Winning Over Travelers and Giving Media a Platform
On the consumer side, Cambodia leaned on international media, digital campaigns, influencers and film tourism to tell authentic destination stories. By mid-2026, CTB had hosted around ten international media outlets, including Wanderlust, SG Media, The Guardian UK and the South China Morning Post, along with some twenty content creators from Australia and India.
B2B: Betting on 500 Travel Agents
On the trade side, the institution stepped up engagement with travel agents through familiarization (FAM) trips, trade shows and sales missions. Since March 2026, 145 international travel agents have already been confirmed under the "500 Agent FAM Trip" programme, designed to let the professionals who sell Cambodia experience it firsthand. CTB also took part in 17 international trade shows and 6 sales missions and roadshows, across Austria, Spain, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, India, as well as Beijing, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and South Korea.
B2B2C: Partnering with Airlines
Cambodia also strengthened partnerships with airlines and travel platforms to drive bookings through joint marketing campaigns. Key partners include Singapore Airlines (including its France and Australia branches), AirAsia, Eva Air, Etihad and Turkish Airlines.
B2G: Building Bridges with Other Tourism Boards
Finally, at the institutional level, CTB forged strategic partnerships with several tourism boards and international tourism organisations, notably the Sanya Tourism Board and the Singapore Tourism Board, to support joint promotions and multi-destination tourism initiatives.
Three New Programmes
The first half of 2026 was also marked by the launch of three new initiatives: the "500 Agent FAM Trip" programme already mentioned, an Event Matching Grant co-funding local events to draw international visitors, and Film Location Scouting support to help international filmmakers exploring Cambodia as a filming destination.
Results That Will Take Time to Show
CTB is nonetheless tempering expectations: these initiatives need time before translating into a measurable rise in arrivals. International travellers typically book three to nine months in advance, while FAM trips require travel agents additional time to develop, promote and sell Cambodia packages before the first effects show up in visitor numbers.
