The Cambodian Embassy in France, through His Excellency Mr. David Luy, has issued a warning for European travelers heading to Cambodia. Several recent accounts have reported concerning incidents at Bangkok International Airport (Thailand), particularly during transit by European nationals.

According to the statement, some passengers traveling in simple connection to Phnom Penh were subjected to extended questioning, excessively burdensome requests for financial documentation, and intrusive checks of their reservations. These episodes reportedly occurred in an atmosphere of tension and suspicion, causing concern and discomfort among the travelers.
In some reported cases, these inconveniences were followed by lost luggage upon arrival in Cambodia, further intensifying worries about the safety of transit in Thailand.
In response to the situation, the Embassy strongly recommends avoiding stopovers in Bangkok and the use of Thai airlines for travel to Cambodia as a precaution. Other international airlines offer more direct routes or transits through airports known for efficiency and respect for travelers.
“Cambodia remains a welcoming and safe destination. These incidents occur outside our territory, but they can affect the experience of our visitors,” emphasized Ambassador David Luy, urging vigilance and broad dissemination of the information to the public.
The Embassy invites travelers and tourism agencies to share this advisory to help prevent any inconvenience and ensure smoother travel to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
