Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said the ASEAN region has become the world's fifth largest economy because ASEAN women have played a pivotal role in communities and national economies, as well as in economic integration through regional and international platforms.
Prime Minister Hun Manet said in his opening speech:
"ASEAN has become the fifth largest economy in the world because ASEAN women have played a pivotal role, not only as the bedrock of their communities and national economies, contributing to job creation, poverty reduction and promoting an inclusive economy, but also in economic integration through regional and international platforms, driving growth and fostering innovation across borders."
He added that this event will provide invaluable opportunities for knowledge sharing, capacity building and collaboration, enabling women entrepreneurs to strategise and enhance their business skills and competitiveness, share best practices and gain access to a wider range of resources, networks and markets.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei continued, today's event is an undeniable testament to the indomitable spirit of ASEAN women who push boundaries, dare to dream, disrupt and lead.
The PM further underscored that in Cambodia, the fabric of our society, woven with threads of peace, harmony and resilience, has been meticulously woven by generations of Cambodian women.
Speaking at the same occasion, Samdech Thipadei added that the unwavering strength and gentle guidance of women have anchored us through turbulent times and allowed us to flourish as a nation. Valuing and respecting women is deeply embedded in our culture, traditions and teachings.
