EuroCham Cambodia Hosts Key Workshop on STRACAP Roadmap Launch

On March 18, Zandré van Straten, coordinator of EuroCham Cambodia's services—the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia—led a key workshop in Phnom Penh. Organized as part of the STRACAP roadmap launch (2026-2032), this event aimed to inform on standards, trade systems, and the country's inclusive economic growth.

During the session dedicated to private sector participation in national initiatives such as STRACAP and the National Quality Indicators (NGI), Mr. van Straten highlighted the pivotal role of EuroCham.

This organization supports Cambodian businesses in their pursuit of European markets, helping them navigate an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.

Key highlights from his presentation included practical advice on product certification and compliance with European Union requirements, support for facilitating trade and connecting with European buyers, as well as insights into regulatory frameworks through the Responsible Business Hub (RBH).

The workshop also addressed post-Least Developed Country (LDC) challenges for Cambodia, particularly the transition from "Everything But Arms" (EBA) preferences to the general tariff preferences (GSP) regime. These changes, expected after 2026, require Cambodian exporters to adapt quickly to maintain their competitiveness.

STRACAP, an acronym for "Strengthening Standards, Trade and Capacity," fits into an ambitious national strategy to boost exports and global economic integration. EuroCham, through its presence, reaffirms its commitment alongside local stakeholders, as Cambodia seeks to diversify its trading partners amid geopolitical tensions.

In a context where Europe represents a strategic outlet for Cambodian textiles, agri-food, and services, these initiatives could catalyze a new phase of growth. EuroCham intends to continue its support to elevate Cambodian competitiveness on the international stage.
