Economy : EU Ambassador Backs CDC’s “Knock on the Door” Mission to Europe

EU Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Igor Driesmans has given his full backing to the “knock on the door” mission of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) to Europe in June.

Yesterday, S.E. Sun Chanthol, First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, met with Igor Driesmans, Ambassador of the European Union to the Kingdom of Cambodia, to discuss the mission of the Council for the Development of Cambodia to invest in the European Union.

S.E. Sun Chanthol expressed Cambodia’s enthusiasm to diversify investment by actively seeking out investors from all countries and potential companies. He also highlighted the potential of the “Plus-One Strategy” to increase the diversity of investment companies in Cambodia, especially to promote foreign direct investment in new industries such as electronics, automobiles, components, and food processing.

On this momentous occasion, the Ambassador also spoke in full support of the Deputy Prime Minister’s mission to show the potential and current status of Cambodia to investors in the European Union, especially in Germany and Spain, this coming June.

The meeting was a great success! It was held to discuss the readiness of stakeholders in the mission of the CDC to show the way on investment opportunities and potential in Cambodia to investors of two EU countries, Germany and Spain. This was in accordance with a joint agreement reached at the 11 March 2024 meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister Peteris Ustubs, Director for Middle East Asia and the Pacific of the General Department of International Partnership (DG INTPA), and the Ambassador.
