A Cambodian delegation led by H.E. BUON Sarakmony, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Cambodian Competition Commission (CCC), arrived in Bonn, Germany on Monday morning for an official study visit to the Bundeskartellamt, Germany's competition authority.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, with the support of GIZ Cambodia, this official study visit was organised with the aim of gaining knowledge and experience directly from the above-mentioned competition agency, focusing on in-depth understanding of best practices in the organisational structure and effective implementation of the competition law, as well as strengthening cooperation between the two agencies.
In his opening remarks, H.E. State Secretary expressed his sincere appreciation to Mr. Frank Tibitanzl, COMPETE Project Director of GIZ, for facilitating the study visit and to Prof. Konrad Ost, Vice President of the Bundeskartellamt, for providing the CCC with the opportunity to learn and gain knowledge and experience from a developed agency. This will enable the CCC to improve its work processes and become more efficient.
During the visit, representatives of the Bundeskartellamt shared their expertise and insights with CEC members through presentations on various topics, including the structure of the Bundeskartellamt; Horizontal Agreements/Cartels: Use of Economic Evidence and Presentation of Economic Evidence in Horizontal Agreements/Cartels to Decision-Makers and Judges, Leniency, Exemptions, etc.; Mergers/Merger Control; Abuse of Dominant Position; and Cooperation with Other/Competition Agencies.
