Cambodia's exports demonstrated significant growth in January 2025

According to a statement released on February 10 by the General Department of Customs and Excise, the United States was the leading importer, totalling US$868 million in imports, followed by Vietnam with US$278 million. Other key markets include Japan, China, Canada, and Spain. The robust performance is largely attributed to Cambodia's expanding network of free trade agreements, with Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, H.E. Penn Sovicheat, emphasising that deals with China and South Korea, along with membership in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), have served as significant catalysts. "Free trade agreements, regional trade agreements – RCEP, and trade preferences are catalysts in boosting the country's exports," he stated.

In addition to the export surge, Cambodia imported goods worth US$2.75 billion in January. Major categories of these imports ranged from medicines and supplements to a variety of consumables and food and beverages.

Last year, the nation's international trade volume climbed to US$54.74 billion, marking a 16.9 percent increase from 2023. Exports, which reached US$26.19 billion, also grew by 15.7 percent compared to US$22.64 billion the previous year.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance has reported that Cambodia's diverse export basket includes garments, machinery, electrical equipment, footwear, leather goods, grain, furniture, rubber, fruits, vegetables, pearls, toys, and textiles, highlighting the nation's dynamic manufacturing and trade capabilities.
