Cambodia & Revelation 2025: The Kingdom crowned fifth friendliest country on the planet

Cambodia has been voted the fifth friendliest country in the world in the prestigious Readers' Choice Awards 2025 published by British magazine Condé Nast Traveller. With a remarkable score of 97.33 points, the Khmer kingdom beat out major tourist nations such as Vietnam (97.27) and Thailand (96.36), testifying to the unique charm of its people and the warmth of its welcome.

The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism expressed its deep pride and gratitude for this international recognition.

"This distinction reflects Cambodia's essential cultural values, in particular the concept of metta, a Pali term meaning benevolent and unconditional love for all living beings. This philosophy is reflected in the genuine and spontaneous hospitality that our compatriots extend to visitors, whatever their origin," said a ministry spokesman.

From the capital Phnom Penh, with its vibrant bustle and river landscape, to the rural areas where travellers can stay with locals in silk-weaving villages and traditional farms, the kindness is palpable everywhere. The famous temple of Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, embodies the spiritual soul of the country - a place where thousand-year-old heritage and a warm welcome come together perfectly.

The Ministry also stresses that Cambodia remains a safe and stable country, committed to promoting sustainable and responsible tourism that respects Khmer traditions and the natural environment. "Tourism is one of the pillars of national influence and international friendship. We are doing our utmost to ensure the safety, comfort and satisfaction of visitors, while promoting the cultural wealth and beauty of our country", adds the official statement.

Worldwide recognition for friendship

At the top of the 2025 ranking, Kenya takes first place with 98.46 points, followed by Barbados (98.18) and Mexico (98.00). Cambodia thus joins an elite circle of nations where a warm welcome and cultural sharing are fundamental values.
