Cambodia Asserts Its Ambitions to Become a Logistics Pivot in Southeast Asia. During a conference titled "Delivering Logistics-Led Growth," officials and private sector leaders highlighted advances in transport modernization and cross-border cooperation.

A Strategic Meeting Under Royal and European Co-Presidency
Co-chaired by His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and Mr. Tassilo Brinzer, President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham), this conference took place this Wednesday in Phnom Penh.
Organized jointly by the CDC, EuroCham, and its Transport & Logistics Committee, it brought together regional counterparts from Southeast Asia, representatives from the EU-ASEAN Business Council, and industry players, both in person and via videoconference.
This event marks a key step in Cambodia's strategy to position itself as a leading logistics and commercial hub.
Four Strategic Objectives to Accelerate Transformation
The conference revolved around four ambitious pillars:
Highlight concrete progress: Presentation of tangible results from coordination around the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS) White Paper.
Promote successful public-private partnerships: Examples of successes in developing infrastructure and logistics services, stemming from collaboration between the Royal Government and the private sector.
Advance reforms and modernization: Updates on in-depth reforms and progress in transport infrastructure.
Strengthen regional competitiveness: Raising awareness of Cambodia's position as a high-potential logistics hub.
These objectives aim to chart new directions for a forward-looking Cambodian market, with updates on PAS infrastructure improvements boosted by export growth, as well as reforms in express logistics and customs facilitation.
Toward Greater Visibility and Economic Resilience
Beyond the progress reports, the meeting emphasized the impact of coordinated efforts between public institutions and private actors, while encouraging cross-border dialogue. Expected outcome: enhanced visibility of Cambodian logistics advances among investors and business partners, fostering confidence and collaborations.
These initiatives fit into a broader vision of socio-economic development, ensuring Cambodia's prosperity and resilience in the face of globalization. By betting on logistics modernization, Phnom Penh positions itself as an indispensable player in the regional supply chain.
