To celebrate the promising departure of 80 young Cambodian doctors who are about to join French hospitals this year to complete their specialized training, the French Embassy in Cambodia gathered these talents for a ceremony.

The Program
The Diplôme de Formation Médicale Spécialisée (DFMS) et Diplôme de Formation Médicale Spécialisée Approfondie (DFMSA) offers these doctors from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to follow an intensive specialization course in France lasting from six months to one year. This training combines rigorous theoretical teaching and practical internships within hospitals, allowing future specialists to acquire advanced clinical expertise in their respective disciplines.
For over thirty years, this program has represented a fundamental pillar of Franco-Cambodian cooperation in the health sector. These mobilities are much more than simple academic exchanges; they weave a solid network of shared knowledge, medical know-how, and human relationships that nurture a lasting and fruitful partnership.
More than 1,000 Cambodian students have already benefited from this opportunity, thus strengthening ties between the two countries and contributing to the continuous improvement of their respective health systems.
This program allows young doctors to live in France with the status of student acting as an intern (FFI), granting them the possibility to evolve under the same conditions as a French intern and to perform clinical responsibilities adapted to their level of training. A precious advantage that guarantees complete professional immersion and high-level hands-on learning.
This year, the exceptional promotion of 80 candidates also reflects the excellent teamwork between the French University, the French Embassy, and Cambodian institutions. Together, they highlight the quality of application files and the rigorous selection of future specialists, ensuring the success of this ambitious program.
Through this initiative, France reaffirms its support for medical training in Cambodia, a commitment that fits within a global dynamic of bilateral cooperation, particularly aiming at the development of a future Franco-Cambodian university hospital in Phnom Penh, symbolizing the sustainability and future of this medical collaboration.
